COURSE
CONTENT

The main theme of the course is the system of objects / furnishings and their role within housing processes in consideration of the social, technological, environmental and procedural transformations that affect the dimension of living today. The course aims to analyze and remodel the design process of an artifact, highlighting the necessary steps and the skills required until it identifies the methods and principles of innovation. Within the application exercises, students are confronted with the different approaches and processes that involve the project for craftsmanship and that for industry. Particular attention will be paid to the technicians who regulate the function of the objects and to the manufacturing techniques. Topics covered: project and inspiration (Concept Design), Design processing methods, Technical principle of a product, Research and analysis, Design and representation, Methods and systems for product innovation, Relationship between objects and spaces, Artisanal and industrial production processes, Areas of innovation in furnishing products and accessories, Project and construction, Management of the Design process, Products and future scenarios, Speculative Design.

LEARNING
OBJECTIVES

Exercise and develop the ability to design objects and systems for living, both about in the context of artisanal and about industrial processes and trigger innovation processes. Ability to make a critical analysis of contemporary scenarios.
