Application areas

internet of things
The development of home automation applications and the internet of things in furniture systems, with insights into the role of objects to mediate between the tangible world and the digital world by improving the management and organization of living

self-construction processes

The implications in the housing sector of the self-construction processes, from the use

of 3D printers to the FabLabs, with the development of themes (implementation and customization of living spaces) which, in the most recent experiences of participatory design laboratories, involve public space, showing a use of self-construction in the preparation of the spaces of relationship

relationship with the green

In the design of home systems, combining the main soilless cultivation techniques (hydroponics, fog cultivation and fish and vegetable symbiosis), study the relationship between indoor and outdoor greening and smart homes

open micro spaces

Through set-up methods to reconfigure the space, and apply new technologies to urban open micro spaces (urban interior spaces and interstitial spaces), to activate the internal social relationships of these remaining spaces

interior spaces

The innovation of traditional types of interior spaces aimed at defining new types of spaces intended for living in all its forms; from domestic, to new expressions of creative work, from spaces for learning and culture to spaces for goods

visual and interior

Research on the connections between communication components (visual design), technological components (internet of things) and exhibition components (furniture systems), in the narration of cities, to develop a "cultured tourism" and the "deep reuse" of urban space

habitable interiors

The design of the "habitable interiors" in the means of transport, from trains to campers, to boats up to the new types of "mobile" homes (Tiny Houses, Mobile Homes)

Intervention  areas

The laboratory works closely with international research institutions and laboratories as well as other laboratories in the DIDALabs network to carry out activities to establish links and integrations on specific application issues, activating connections and convergences on specific application issues.
